Our wonderful baby shower

My main baby shower was a couple of weeks ago – we had all our parents as well as many fantastic friends join us to celebrate Red Bean’s impending arrival. It was SO much fun! Our wonderful hosts Kristi, Jeff and Carrie outdid themselves creating a really great, easy-going, sophisticated baby shower. We were so glad to share this will everyone – Zach and I love and appreciate all of you!! Pics after the jump!

These amazing cupcakes looked like red beans and rice on top! White sprinkles, jelly beans and a red/brown drizzle – so very clever! The origami bunnies are Carrie’s creation, and the sweet Chinese rabbit is for our little Year of the Rabbit baby.

Dad-to-be, wearing ribbons from other packages, displays a fantastic onesie from Aunt Jenna and Uncle Dan.

Crocheted owl booties from honorary Auntie Kristi – brought back from her summer travels in Alaska.

Two of the shower hosts. Jeff lent both his gracious and cozy home (complete with bonfire in the back yard!) AND his and his husband Bruce’s considerable culinary talent. Kristi executed planning and invites, decor and she got those adorable cupcakes.

The third host, Carrie, with her fiance Eric, making a guess as to the combined girth of pregnant mom and dad – the one and only party game of this classy baby shower. Incidentally, their method of measuring themselves then adding length for my tummy earned them the win!

Me, with my parents, who drove all the way from Alabama, braving DC’s infamous parking aggravations to deliver copious gifts for our firstborn, their third grandchild.

Me and Kristi!

Kristi’s husband Gary took these great photos – you can see more at their website, Cascades Photography: http://cascadesphotography.smugmug.com/Clients/events/Red-Bean-Shower/19931861_wRk72p
